A source of the Yukon River, Atlin Lake occupies about 775 square kilometres (305 square miles) of wilderness in northern British Columbia, Canada, making it the province’s largest body of water. The name “Atlin” derives from a word that means “big lake” in the language of the indigenous Tlinglit people, some of the original human inhabitants of northwestern North America.
