Laurent becomes world-famous when he sells his painting, entitled “The Fingers”, for a six-figure sum. The “mini-Picasso”, as he is now affectionately known, lives with his parents in picturesque Neubeuern in southern Bavaria. However, he discovered his passion for art while on a family vacation in Italy. The hotel offered a creative art studio for children, and as soon as Laurent discovered this room for himself, he couldn't get away from it. “He couldn't have been more enthusiastic about anything than brushes and acrylic paints,” says his mother Lisa Schwarz. Laurent spent the rest of the vacation letting off steam in the hotel's art room and creating abstract images.
Even when he got home, the enthusiasm didn't let up. Laurent's parents set up a hobby room for him, equipped with brushes, paints and painting tools. Since then, Laurent has been painting regularly, repeatedly producing new, impressive compositions on large-format canvases.
Carefree exuberance – a childhood privilege as a recipe for success?
Each of his artworks speaks for itself, and yet they all have something in common: they radiate an extraordinary, positive energy. Contrasting compositions, colorful explosions and a refreshing spontaneity – abstract art thrives on interpretation, but Laurent's works are undeniably enveloped in a lightness that is second to none.
And it is precisely this carefree authenticity that makes Laurent's videos so hypnotic. A child living in the moment and completely immersed in the world of colors. During his creative process, he doesn't hesitate, but intuitively follows his impulses – as if he knew exactly what to do to create another phenomenal mural. The word 'vocation' takes on a whole new meaning here and impressively demonstrates that art knows no age limit.
Speaking of limits: we at Komar wondered what would happen if we simply extended Laurent's limits – in this case, the edge of the picture – and projected his works in a large format onto wallpaper.
We are delighted to share the result and we ourselves are always amazed when we stand in front of the wall in our office building in Kolbermoor where the first wallpaper of one of Laurent's artworks was installed. It's hard to describe what it has done to the sense of space – you just have to experience it for yourself.
But this much can be said: anyone entering the room is instantly captivated by the new wall design with Laurent's wallpaper design. The oversized abstract work of art gives the room an irrepressible energy, characterized by vibrant color intensity and self-confident abstraction.
An artistic highlight for every room
We are grateful for this extraordinary collaboration and for the opportunity to transform our office into a small art gallery. To enable other art lovers to enjoy Laurent's art, we are offering an exclusive collection of our favorite motifs on high-quality, sustainable non-woven wall coverings from Komar.
On September 19, 2024, shortly after his third birthday, Laurent's first vernissage took place in Neubeuern. The response was overwhelming, and his works of art have now found their way into collections on all continents.
But despite his success, Laurent remains a child – a boy who, in addition to painting, likes to play with Duplo and dig in the sandbox. His parents repeatedly emphasize how important it is to them that Laurent enjoys his childhood to the full and that the fun of painting is always at the forefront.
And it is precisely this carefree joy that is reflected in every single one of Laurent's works of art.
